At
Rustenburg we offer a wide range of
exciting sporting activities.
The extra-mural programme for GrR-2 is designed
to give the girls the opportunity to
try a variety of sports. Activities such as Playball,
Playtennis, ball skills, tennis, beginners’ netball
and hockey, judo, ballet, gymnastics
and modern dancing are offered. These activities all take place
at school.
The extra-mural curriculum for girls
from Grade 3 – 7 allows the girls to
participate at a competitive or social
level. We aim to emphasise the importance
of teamwork and enthusiasm for the game,
while displaying good sportsmanship
and respect for other teammates. We
derive pleasure from our victories,
but realise that we also learn from
our mistakes.

Clubs
and Activities
Rustenburg
offers many clubs and activities which
meet at breaks or after school. These
encourage our girls to develop new skills.
An atmosphere
of co-operation and sharing is actively
encouraged. Some involve a quarterly
charge paid to an outside facilitator.
We offer;
African
Music and Dance Club
has a vibrant atmosphere. The girls
learn different dances, sing songs and
play drums.
Art
Club offers the girls
a chance to extend their knowledge of
art and work on many creative projects.
Bridge
Club has proved to be
one of the most popular clubs, requiring
some logic, strategy and a bit of maths.
Chess is available after school for
Grades 3-7.
Computer
Club is available after
school for Grades 3 – 7.
Craft
Club members participate in
many fun-filled and creative projects.
Girls from Hlengisa Primary School in
Nyanga also attend these craft lessons.
Cultural
Club offers a variety
of activities including debating and public
speaking, visits to the Baxter Theatre,
science experiments, yoga, dance, and
interesting guest speakers.
Drama offers the
girls a chance to role-play everyday
situations and in doing so, learn to project their voices and to articulate
clearly. The ability to communicate
effectively is vital. Through this the
girls gain invaluable self-confidence.
French Club is
for Grade 6 & 7 girls. They meet
once a week for conversational French.
General
Knowledge Club girls participate
in many interschool competitions, often
reaching the finals. The team meets
weekly to practise their skills and
investigate topics from current affairs to
fun-etics.
Living Maths
is an enrichment programme
for girls who enjoy Maths challenges.
Needlework
Club members meet once a week,
with girls from Hlengisa Primary School
in Nyanga, to learn needlework
skills. Needlework is not only a life
skill, it is therapeutic.
Pottery
Club is offered by an
external facilitator. It is available
to all grades.
Scripture
Union holds weekly meetings
to discuss and learn small lessons that
can help us make our lives more fulfilling.
The girls also look forward to guest
speakers and a camp.
