‘Children want the same things we want… To laugh, to be challenged, to be entertained and delighted.’ Dr Seuss
Our dedicated and passionate teachers make every day a learning adventure in Foundation Phase. With our small classes (26/27 girls per class), we are able to ensure every child is catered for and is seen as a unique individual.
Our core subjects in the Foundation Phase are: English, Afrikaans, Mathematics and Life Skills. Reading and Mathematics skills are taught in small groups where our girls are challenged and supported, and required to develop essential thinking and reasoning skills. Our Life Skills programme, which is taught by specialist teachers, consists of class gym, art, singing, drama, recorder lessons (Grade 2 & 3), computer literacy and enrichment lessons. isiXhosa is taught as an additional language through song, dance and stories and our new approach will see it being taught alongside the English curriculum.
In addition to our diverse academic programme, we also ensure that the emotional and social well-being of each child is nurtured in our caring and safe environment. We celebrate diversity and make it our aim to ensure that each child and teacher feels included.
