The Rustenburg community is privileged in many ways. It is blessed with many talents and resources but these are of little value unless we all have compassion and share our gifts. Rustenburg girls participate in fund-raising projects and support various charities, including hospitals for children, AIDS sufferers and animals. Part of the proceeds from our annual Morning Market is given to a variety of worthy causes.

Our Student Representative Council, which has replaced the prefect system, meets once a week. It acts as a liaison between the girls and the Principal, as well as involving itself in school and community-based projects.

All Grade 6 girls attend a ‘Seeds of Peace’ course. They learn about coping with conflict, problem-solving, empathy and conflict resolution. Many of the girls go on to be trained as Peer Mediators and learn to follow the correct mediation process. These girls are available in the playgrounds to assist with conflict situations, working hard to uphold their motto, ‘A peaceful school is a safe place.’

The Grade 7 girls participate in an Outreach programme, visiting senior citizens, hospitals, children’s homes and other organisations to provide entertainment and to take gifts and flowers.
